The panther was created by sawing wood from the tree, something that’s really hard to grasp for a non artist person like myself. You create something by taking something away.

Brian Vorwaller poses with the finished totem
I should have been hollowing out my next log hive because Brian is going to carve the faces of my three grand kids on it next, but I just wanted to show you how talented he is.
Beginning of the 3 Kid Log Hive
That’s amazing. What a great artist!
Three years ago he carved my first log hive. His wife, Zada, shot video of it and my son-in-law sped it up for faster viewing. I still enjoying watching it.

Incredible…especially how he uses the kickback zone of the chainsaw to get such seemingly delicate results!
Incredible to think that someone can carve like that out of wood. Amelia
I’m always amazed at his work. How he can carve an animal clinging to a tree and look like it’s a separate piece of wood is beyond me.
Really fascinating! I enjoy all of your videos.
Thank you, Esther. I truly enjoy making them. 🙂
Your totem pole is absolutely wonderful! Brian is very talented and must be inspired by many totem animals. I wish he could carve our hives!
Uh, it’s not my totem. It was a project that Brian was just finishing up, so it made for a nice video. As I was putting my cameras away, the owner was driving in to see it for the first time without the scaffolding. He was very pleased!
Ooh, I’d been tempted to wrestle it from the owner, it’s beautiful! 😉
Truly amazing, I’ll watch the video in the morning, everyone’s asleep 🙂
Eddy, you are 9 hours ahead of me…that means you’re doing your blogging at 11:06 pm. That’s late…maybe YOU ought to be asleep too! 🙂
Gorgeous!
What an incredible piece of art and workmanship. The detailing is spectacular. Love the peacock. I can’t even imagine the time that must go into something like that. Thanks for sharing!
Yes, he’s very talented. He will be sculpting my 3 grand kids’ faces on the front of the next log hive. They will have their mouths open so the bees can use them for their entrances. 🙂
I LOVE IT!!! Thank you so much Pat for sharing this!! Brian truly loves his job and we’re honored to be able to be a part of your Log Hive family!! And Thank you Everyone, for all the kind words of support!! 🙂
Absolutely magnificent, what a feeling it must be to create something like that which can be passed down the generations.
He has a real gift. He takes his time, looks at what he’s done from a distance, plans his next cut, and brings that plan back to the project. Easier said than done. His advice…”cut less, plan more.” My worry…I hope I didn’t cut out too much when hollowing out my next log hive.
