It was such an uncharacteristically warm day, we decided to bicycle down to the Port of Bandon to peruse the Old Town Marketplace.
It was one of those perfect days when everyone was in a good mood with the weather being warm, farmers selling their veggies, and Kirk Schumacher strumming his guitar. I asked Kirk if he would sing one of my favorite summertime songs. Without missing a beat, he belted out “Summertime.”

I even got to watch a pelican swallow a fish, twice…possibly the same fish. 🙂
We realize every day how lucky we are to live here. When other parts of the nation are freezing, our ‘cold temps’ are in the mid to upper 30’s only at night…rarely during the day. The bees fly between rain storms.
We live within a short bicycle distance to everything…post office, grocery stores and beach. If you lived in Northern California, our climate might be a little wetter, but we don’t have the huge numbers of people.
Since I’ve been ‘slacking off’ from work lately, we are enjoying some of the same things that attract tourists to this town. Those things that are listed by bullet points on the brochures that I used to print. It’s fun to watch the gliding seagulls, the occasional pelican, and the people showing their kids how to pull crabs.
We could use a bit of that out here in Massachusetts, Pat. I think we’ll get a little bit of sun tomorrow but it’s going down to 27Ëš F. I’m glad you got a summertime day in November.
By the way, I was out in your neck of the woods recently (well close, visiting friends in Seattle and Portland). What a beautiful place; I hope to return someday and see more of the forests and shoot some west coast bugs.
Wow, 27Ëš F. You can have it! Waaay too cold for me.
I bet you’d enjoy yourself with our West Coast Bugs, but watch out for our slugs, they get awfully big on the Coast as you can see from this one in my arms. https://solarbeez.com/2012/04/02/slug-control/ 🙂
What a glorious day, you are lucky to live nearby. It took me back to when I used to live in Northern California.

What a nice day. I liked Summer Time and hearing the sounds of summer in the background. 🙂

The good life…….sigh
So great! I got to experience the ease and celebration of the day, a nice combination of music and beautiful Bandon imagery.
Thanks for the comment. You have a wonderful way of expressing in words what I was trying to show in the video.

Ha! Well, if you trade me the slugs for the freezing temps, I’ll call it even. 😀
Uh, I think I’ll keep the slugs…thanks, anyway.
I loved the video and the pelican! I looked up Bandon on Gmaps so now I really know where Oregon is. Amelia
